Associate Professor Sharon Hayes<\/a> from the School of Justice has recently been in Chicago for the American Sociological Association’s 110th Annual Meeting<\/a>. The theme for this year’s conference was\u00a0“Sexualities in the Social World”<\/em> which focused on\u00a0a full range of sociological topics in addition to showcasing exciting new research on sexualities across many subfields.<\/p>\n

Associate Professor Hayes was invited to be a panellist alongside other leading scholars in the field for\u00a0the session titled ‘Sexual Violence’. In\u00a0this session, panellists presented\u00a0some of the most empirically grounded and analytically sensitive research on sexual assault, interpersonal violence, and sexuality. The session explored how interpersonal violence is used to constitute sexual relationships, not only between women and men, but also among different minority and LGBT communities.<\/p>\n
