Private Ancillary Funds (PAFs) are a special kind of philanthropic foundation in Australia. They are charitable trusts established by deed for the purpose of making grants for public benefit in Australia.
PAFs are designed to provide individuals or organisations with an investment structure for philanthropic purposes. They may not operate programs or deliver services, but instead play a supporting role through funding eligible nonprofit organisations. PAFs are established and funded by a small, tightly bound group of donors (e.g. an individual, family or corporate group).
This year marks 20 years since the establishment of the first PAF in Australia. This year is also is the 20th anniversary of ACPNS – the Australian Centre for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies at QUT. We hope you enjoy these brief comments and links from people who know PAFs.
