The QUT student sharehouse blog was set up last year so that anyone considering studying at university could find out what it’s like to be a student. It ended up that many of our readers were current QUT students, keen to share their own experiences about life at university.
So we are thinking that there might be a few of you who are keen to start blogging for the sharehouse community. Now is the time to make an application.
We are on the lookout for nine new bloggers to contribute to the sharehouse.
The only eligibility requirement is that you are a current QUT undergraduate student. We strongly encourage you to apply if you are in your first year at university – as you are likely to find the uni experience challenging at times and you know first-hand what prospective students are going through. You would need to agree to blog at least once a month and to keep it to a PG rating.
We don’t edit your blog or tell you what to write, but we won’t publish anything that breaches the QUT Student Code of Conduct. You can blog about any topic of interest to you and it doesn’t have to be all good news. We are looking for a genuine account of life at uni. And you aren’t limited to words – your blog can be photos, music, drawings or video – anything you choose.
We have a selection panel lined up to choose the best bloggers to join the sharehouse. If you are selected as a new recruit you will receive training in how to use the blogging platform, tips on being a successful blogger, a netbook valued at around $600, and the opportunity to be voted QUT’s favourite blogger and win a two-day pass to Sunset Sounds.
We’ve also invited three bloggers from last year to participate – so you will be hearing more from Michael, Claire and Leyla.
To enter you need to send us your profile and your first blog for the student sharehouse by Friday 25 March 2011. You don’t need to tell us your life story, so please keep your profile to less than 300 words and your blog no more than 2,500 words.
You might not be interested in blogging yourself, but please remember to subscribe so you receive updates from our contributors straight to your inbox. Then you won’t miss out on any news.
Another way to be involved is to become a sharehouse neighbour. If you have your own blog and would like to link from the sharehouse website, send us your link.
If you are a QUT student studying at a postgraduate or research level or are a QUT staff member and are keen to blog, please send an email with your details.
Please don’t hesitate to email us if you have any feedback or questions.
Good luck, and we hope to hear from you soon!
