QUT Library will still be open over the Summer Semester, however we will be closed between Christmas & New Year.

Each of your QUT library branches will provide a cool and calm place to work in air-conditioned comfort throughout the Summer semester.

Online chat will also continue for the Summer semester with QUT staff at the keyboard seven days a week.

Gardens Point Library Extended Opening Hours

The Gardens Point Library in V Block will be open for extended hours during Swot Vac and exams again this semester.

Students and staff will have access to all study areas, including study rooms and library collections. You will be able to borrow via self-checkout, and use self-service printing stations for printing, copying and scanning throughout the extended opening.

 

The extended opening will start from 7am Friday 27th October and will conclude at 10pm Friday 17th November. The building opening times and HiQ services times are shown below:

Weekends 9am-5pm 9am-2am

QUT students and staff are required to carry their QUT ID card at all times whilst on campus. Entry and exit to the building during the extended opening will be via swipe card access at the main entrance next to Merlo Coffee.

For safety, QUT Security will be in the building at all times. Students are encouraged to carry a mobile phone and download the SafeZone app.

Library Opening Hours and Ekka Holidays

Due to Public Holidays for the Royal Queensland Show (the Ekka):

  • Caboolture Library will be closed on Monday 14th August, for the Moreton Bay Region’s Ekka Holiday. (Caboolture Library will be open normal hours on Wednesday 16th August.)
  • The Gardens Point, Kelvin Grove and Law Libraries will be open on Wednesday 16th August but for a shorter day. GP and KG will be open from 9am to 5pm, Law will be open from 10am to 5pm.
  • Online Chat with a Librarian will be available between 9am and 5pm on Wednesday 16th August.

Library Christmas Closure & Summer Entertainment

QUT Library is taking a holiday! From Saturday 24th December until Monday 2nd January all QUT Libraries will be closed. Our website has all the details. But don’t fret if you want to get some extra study time in over the holiday season, the 24 hour labs at Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove will still be open.

If you think you will suffer from library withdrawal remember we have loads of resources available to you online. This includes our databases to help with any summer semester information needs, our videos to keep you entertained over the break and our eBook collection for those who want to get into their summer reading. Our top picks for this summer are –

  • christmas-1073705_640Die Hard – This action packed movie is a Christmas classic!
  • A Christmas Carol – Charles Dickens novel as an audio book makes it easy to get into the festive season.
  • Day Boy – Read a new take on vampires from a local Brisbane author.
  • A Walk in the Woods – The comedian Bill Bryson takes you on a hilarious hike.
  • 10 Things I Hate About You – Based on Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew, this is a must watch movie!

But remember, if you want to borrow any library books or DVD in hard copy or speak to a librarian make sure to contact us before December 24th.
