Professor John Scott of the School of Justice, QUT, has recently returned from China where he was invited to present at the Annual Meeting of Jiangxi Research Institute of Criminology and the Seventh Jiangxi-Taiwan Law Forum. Approximately 150 justice professionals and legal practitioners attended the forum where major issues discussed included white-collar crime, drug use and corruption. Members of the forum were shown a presentation for 2017 Crime in Asia and the Global South Conference, to be held in Cairns in July and hosted by the Asian Society of Criminology and Crime and Justice Research Centre QUT. A group of 15 researchers from the Jiangxi Research Institute of Criminology will be attending the conference and a special session of the conference will be conducted in Mandarin.
Other highlights of the visit included a day trip Linchuan and a visit to see and learn about the operation of its District Court, with presentations by senior police and magistrates of the district.
