Similar to terrorists, perpetrators of intimate partner violence also distort certain ideologies to legitimise their violent actions and to shift blame to their victims.
In this seminar, based on the forthcoming book, Romantic Terrorism, co-authored with Samantha Jeffries, Sharon Hayes will argue that it is possible to conceptualise domestic (or intimate partner) violence as romantic terrorism, and will discuss the implications of doing so.
